Embark on a day trip from Marrakech to explore the hidden valleys and Berber villages of the High Atlas Mountains, providing an opportunity to learn about the local people's culture, traditions and way of life. This excursion will take you through the Dam of Lalla Takerkoust, the villages of Asni, Sidi Fares and the stunning Ourika valley, where you can witness the weekly Berber markets held on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays.

Planning:

Your driver/guide will pick you up from your accommodation at 9 AM to start your day trip from Marrakech to the High Atlas Mountains and Berber villages. After driving through the arid desert of Marrakech, your first stop will be at the Dam of Lallal Takerkoust to enjoy the panoramic view at a height of 1400m. Next, you will join the Kik plateau to discover a beautiful landscape and a totally exotic setting.

Drive through the traditional Berber villages where the authentic houses are built of red and maroon clay and stone by the local families. You will have the opportunity to visit a Berber house to enjoy a glass of tea and snack and get a glimpse of their daily life. If you happen to coincide with a market day, you can discover the unique markets where locals meet once a week to sell and buy their goods or exchange them for money.

Continue driving through the villages of Asni and Sidi Fares, and enjoy the stunning peaks and mountain views over the Oukaimden ski station. Afterward, drive through the Ourika valley to explore the organic aromatic garden that contains various medicinal plants used by Berbers. Then, reach the last village of Setti Fadma where a local mountains guide will take you on a guided walking and hiking tour to explore the waterfalls of the Setti Fatma Valley. After discovering the waterfalls, enjoy a traditional lunch in one of the local restaurants next to the river.

After lunch, you will have some free time to relax before driving back to Marrakech around 5 PM.s
